"My music is the story of a dream, where wrecks of music and sounds of every age, geography and nature interact like eccentric characters on imaginary stages"
Nurtured by an unending intellectual curiosity and inspired by a constant dialectics between experimentation and sense of history, the music of the Italian composer Gianluca Verlingieri fully embraces the kaleidoscopic interests of its author.
Indeed, Verlingieri’s works range between different creative contexts, often deliberately fading into one another: from concert music for soloists or groups of various instruments and voices to fixed-media pieces and works for instruments and live-electronics, as well as from stage music and experimental musical theater to soundtracks and multimedia installations.
Talent exceptionnel according to Radio France, Gianluca Verlingieri has gained international recognition for performances of his music and projects held in prestigious venues and festivals worldwide, such as INA-GRM in Paris, Italian Academy at the Columbia University in New York, Berlin Staatsoper, Renzo Piano’s Parco della Musica Auditorium in Rome, New Florence Opera House at Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, Lingotto Auditorium in Turin, ARD German Radio Days at ZKM Karlsruhe, Festival International d’Art Lyrique of Aix en Provence, Geneva’s Cathedral, Bach Orgel Festival at Thomaskirche Leipzig and numerous other venues in Italy, France, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Spain, England, Denmark, Belgium, Sweden, Scotland, Slovenia, Portugal, San Marino, Greece, Mexico, USA, Brazil, New Zealand and Australia.
Verlingieri’s compositions and performances has been broadcasted, among the others, by France Musique, RAI Radio3, USA National Public Radio, RSI Svizzera, Radio New Zealand, Radio Capodistria, Radio Classica, Radio Taukay, Limen TV, as well as issued on compact disc by the German label NEOS, the Italian labels Limen Music and EMA Records, the US label Tzadik, the Swedish BIS Records, the Dutch Esc.Rec. and the Japanese DaVinci Classics.
Widely awarded in Europe and North America, Verlingieri’s music is regularly performed by internationally established soloists and ensembles, as well as by young emerging artists. He has been invited to give masterclass and lectures about his music in prestigious international institutions, including the Franz Liszt Academy in Budapest and the China Conservatory in Beijing.
